The short film, THIS IS DON (aka THE DON PROJECT), is a little bit punk
rock, and a little bit neorealist. It is a ‘day-in-the-life’, character study of
Don, a dog walker and lingering skate punk ‘scenester’ living in current
day Brooklyn, New York.
Don’s day-to-day routine is dull and it shows. He is worn down and
despondent- the best years of his life have clearly come and gone. He
takes care of people’s dogs to pay rent. He “walks” them on his
skateboard, being pulled down the streets of Brooklyn, NY.
Having been in the area since the 1980’s, Don’s world is changing. He
struggles to find meaning in this new existence, filled with trust fund
babies and high rise condos. Ultimately, Don has to walk the dogs of the
very people who challenge his happiness.
